Quick question with the data format of unreleased (internal) betas like the current 1.1:  is it possible to compile offline versions of these betas for testers to use offline?  Or does the data format (or time to compile them) make it too difficult?

I only ask as I’d like to continue playing the same game and preserve that game’s data, but due to the nature of development and changing data schema I understand if it’s not possible.  🙂

The data structure is quite volatile at the moment. Constantly changing and evolving to the point where I unfortunately need to wipe saves between each version right now.

It’s also quite a headache to compile each time we do some updates to the code to an offline version. Perhaps one day, but not now haha.

Totally understand, and I actually sorta expected it.  But thanks for the definite answer!

Hey Vaughn..  one beta suggestion I’d make to avoid problems is version-specific save directories.  I just spent 3-4 hours testing the 1.1, exited to have a bite to eat and when I returned I mistakenly clicked on the Play 1.0.1 link.  Well of course that was the wrong one, and I loaded up the right one immediately – only to find it wipes the save data completely.  So that 3-4 hours is gone now.  Having version-specific save directories would eliminate that happening.

On a more positive side I got to test a bit.  Not sure where you want feedback left – here or on the tracking sheet.
