Anyone else do backups/save backups every few thousand movements (or turns?) I do.

Got my longest one going so far and its at Talent level 61570. Slowly trying to build up but… i’ve run into a wall.. seems im getting immensely over powered by monsters, like literally 9 bears, 3 hobgoblins, 5 fire monsters, and tons of random chickens/birds/gel spawns?! Like… is it just me or is it hard to basically survive?

I mean i realize its suppose to slowly vamp up but jesus, i got bow and arrows to kill off bears, and the hobgoblins, bats, vampire bats, and the things that kill me fast. I range kill them but… then tons of them at a time? Come on im getting crushed pretty darn hard.

Edit: Forgot the main purpose of this is to see if anyone wants to trade save files to see where we are at and what not. I’ve unlocked quite alot, except for the entire iron armor set and weapon set. ALota stuff still working on unlocking.

I think we need a creature despawn system of some sort. Perhaps one that is creature-specific, allowing off screen rabbits and such to have a higher chance of dying (literally dying of old age, complete with accelerated decomposition so you have to get REALLY lucky if you’re looking for a free meal) early than say bears, which die somewhat faster than things like boglings, while fire elementals and such just hang around being immortal and all. That way if you survive for a conceivable amount of time, things don’t get to bad, and hopefully begin to flatten out after a while on the massive cliff that is the curve of your life expectancy over time.. Until fire covers the earth, killing off all the folks who are obvious employing some form of HAX to keep themselves alive.

i seem to only die from ghosts and fire creatures that seem invincible. No matter what methods i employ so far, tons of traps, and arching or direct assaults will not work with killing off the elemental or ghosts. They seem impossible, if i survive and make it off to another island the elemental on the other island essentially burns everything i’ve worked on and most of the island to the ground, and well… the ghost, well i dont think they ever die. Thankfully they cannot traverse deep water. But thats whats really getting me

I think pirate ghosts either have completely random stats, or they have experienced a major upgrade with one of the more recent updates. I have fond, though foggy memories of blowing through pirates left and right, rarely even coming down to 1/2 my health, and much less often 1/4th or 1/8 my health. These days a swing with a pirate ghost on your first day is nothing more than a death sentence.

@Chill there is some monster de-spawning, but it can be quite rare. It’s completely random but only works if the monster was not interacted with and is out of view.

I’m thinking you two are talking about aberrant monsters. They are the “boss” versions of each monster – they look a bit different. I will tone down the spawn rate of them in 1.6.

Yeah i figured out ghosts weaknesses are torches. (and plenty of health repairs like sutchers or bandages)
Elemental fires can be killed off quickly with arching and running into the water to avoid them as they wont travel into the water

And imps can be wiped out with arching.

Seems we need a guide to how to defeat monsters… I think ill type one up based on my experiences

@Vaughn – Yeah, i’ve been playing on the 1.6 build now. It seems the monster swarms are more bareable and its not overpowering like.. say 19+ monsters on screen all chasing me, gives me a little breathing room to basically break out and kill em all. Lol doesn’t mean its smart to rush out just means i now have a fighting chance.

I’ve trapped an Aberrant Time Skitter on an island. I wasn’t able to injure it at all with iron weapons so I’m going to try gold. These things really are boss mobs lol.

oh? I noticed their easy to kill with arching. Their idiotic in their movement that after 3-6 movements any direction and they randomly jump
